Work to Start Soon on New Station |

Work is set to start within the next few weeks on a long-awaited multi-million pound railway station for Chorley’s newest village.
Contractors are due on site in September and the new station to serve Buckshaw Village is expected to be up and running by autumn 2011 after planning permission was granted by Chorley Council this week.

Local charities and organisations have received a welcome boost to their funds thanks to a former first citizen of Chorley.
Iris Smith was Mayor of the borough in 2009/10 and during her year of office, with the support of her husband and Consort Jim, raised nearly £9,300 with a variety of events including the charity ball, a ten pin bowling competition, quiz nights and a plant sale.

The popular monthly street market and the Covered Market’s craft stalls have been revitalised since Chorley Council offered free rent to help stall holders after the difficult winter.
Now because the three month free rent trial proved such a success, the offer is being extended over the summer.
